Frequently asked questions - FAQ

Does a water-based cleaner completely replace a classic solvent-based cold cleaner?

Yes, in most applications. Water-based, plant-based cleaners often require a little more contact time than solvent-based products, but are CLP-free, ADR-free, VOC-free and more gentle on paint and rubber. In the case of very old, hardened bitumen residues, a longer contact time or a second pass may be advisable, depending on the substrate.

Do our cleaners attack painted or rubber surfaces?

No, if used correctly. The water-based cleaners are gentle on paintwork, rubber and most plastics used in asphalt construction and workshops. For reasons of caution, we recommend a test cleaning in an inconspicuous area before the first extensive use on very sensitive special paints.

How is the cleaning waste water disposed of?

The cleaner itself is biodegradable - the dissolved soiling (bitumen, tar, oil, grease) is not. Cleaning waste water must therefore be channelled through a sludge trap or oil separator and disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Specific instructions can be found in the safety data sheet, which is available on request.
